EU OKs Kimberly-Clark, Scott merger

Published on .

The European Union approved the merger of Kimberly-Clark Corp. and Scott Paper Co. on Tuesday, creating a global paper product giant with annual sales of about $12 billion. To offset antitrust concerns, the marketers agreed to cut their British and Irish operations; Kimberly-Clark will not market Kleenex products for at least 15 years, and Scott will drop its Scotties and Handy Andies brands indefinitely.
