Kia Motors America signed on as the official automotive sponsor of the 1997 New York Marathon. The sponsorship was negotiated by the South Korean carmaker's agency of record, Goldberg Moser O'Neal, San Francisco.

Breathe Right nasal strips are teaming up with Universal Pictures' "Leave It to Beaver" this month. A free-standing newspaper insert offers coupons for 75 cents off the adhesive nasal strips marketed by CNS. In-store displays back the effort, which was handled in-house; the film opens early next month.

Dean Lavelle, world champion wakeboarder, inked a sponsorship deal with Pepsi-Cola Co.'s Mountain Dew. Mr. Lavelle will defend his title at the 1997 World Wakeboard Championship, Oct. 11 and 12 in Orlando.

VF Corp.'s Lee Apparel Co. will sponsor the second annual Lee National Denim Day on Oct. 10 to raise more than $1 million for breast cancer research. Actress Josie Bissett will be spokeswoman in a national publicity campaign.

Mass. Bay Brewing Co.'s Harpoon Brewery released a CD titled "I Can Still Dance," featuring several up-and-coming bands. The CD is being given free to consumers as a prize at bar events around the U.S. hosted by Harpoon's mobile marketing team.
