Excite adds voice capabilities

Published on .

Excite@Home June expands its communication services June 21 by offering Excite eVoicemail, allowing consumers to receive voicemail and fax messages from their Excite e-mail account with a toll-free number service and a personal extension. Consumers can sign up at evoicemail.excite.com. The service is free to U.S. callers and users, and can receive up to 60 messages and 10 faxes a month. Excite tapped General Magic's magicTalk software to run eVoicemail.

Excite@Home also releases Excite Voice Chat, a voice service enabling consumers to talk in real time on the Web. Software start-up Lipstream provided the software for the service which can be accessed at voicechat.excite.com.
