Excite cancels ad launch party

Published on .

Search engine Excite, which was scheduled to unveil a splashy new ad campaign over the weekend, said it cancelled an equally splashy launch party scheduled for Oct. 28 in New York. The company attributed the cancellation to a variety of factors, including the fact that its president couldn't attend the event. A similar event for the same date in San Francisco is still expected.

The Excite campaign, estimated at $7 million to $10 million, is from Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco.
