A new survey of broadband users by broadband portal Excite@Home indicates broadband users tend to use the Internet in different ways than narrowband users. The study found broadband users tend to spend more time surfing the Web, taking advantage of e-commerce and exploring streaming audio and video on the Internet. Compared to dial-up users, broadband consumer spend 55% more time online; spend more money online ($400 vs. $209); greatly increase the number of Web sites visited; are 46% more likely to watch movie trailers; and 58% more likely to watch streaming video. Excite@Home conducts quarterly surveys of its users; these data were gathered through online interviews with 5,866 respondents conducted from July 3 to 10.
