Excite revenue up 15% over previous quarter

Excite reported $7.5 million in revenue for the first quarter, a 15% increase in revenue from the preceding quarter, which totaled $6.5 million. First-quarter revenue increased five times from the first quarter revenue of 1996, which totaled $1.4 million. The net loss for the first quarter of 1997 was $8.8 million, a $3.9 million improvement over the preceding fourth quarter in 1996.

Excite is in the process of changing its interface from a functional index to a channels-based model, where content will be divided into categories.
