Explorer gaining on Navigator in business

Published on .

Netscape Communications Corp.'s Navigator is still the lead browser in corporate America, with 54% of 260 large companies surveyed saying Navigator was their primary Web browser, according to the latest survey by Zona Research. But Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer moved up to 45% in the survey. Navigator's share fell from 62% in Zona's survey last September, while Explorer rose from 36%. Though Navigator is still the ``browser of choice,'' Zona said, Explorer is the ``browser of policy,'' mandated for use by 55% of companies that have a corporate policy on browsers.
