Exxon to run corrective ads

Exxon will air corrective TV ads in 18 markets as part of a settlement of Federal Trade Commission deceptive ad charges. FTC said Exxon lacked adequate substantiation to support commercials, from McCann-Erickson/Houston, that claimed high octane gasoline reduced maintenance costs.
