Pacific Gas & Electric Co. has narrowed the review for its estimated $10 million account to incumbent McCann-Erickson Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi, J. Walter Thompson USA and Young & Rubicam, all San Francisco.

National Potato Promotion Board tapped BBDO, Chicago, to handle its $5 million account. TBWA/Chiat/Day, San Francisco, is the previous agency.

CDnow, the biggest seller of compact discs online, is in talks with a division of Time Warner--likely Columbia House--with the intent that the division will make an equity investment in CDnow. Columbia House is co-owned by Sony Corp. of America.
