Fallows to leave 'U.S. News'

U.S. News & World Report Editor in Chief James Fallows, in a surprise announcement to the newsweekly's staff, said he plans to leave the magazine after less than two years in the job. No successor was named, and Mr. Fallows indicated he would be staying on at the Washington-based magazine through a transition period. Mr. Fallows is an outspoken critic of the news media and author of "Breaking the News."
