Publicis Groupe, Paris, confirmed it's studying plans to merge European operations of its FCA! BMZ network into recently acquired Saatchi & Saatchi. Publicis has yet to finalize the list of countries where FCA! BMZ operations could be merged into Saatchi, nor has a timetable been set for the operation, the company said in a statement. "We are actively seeking to improve the position of Saatchi & Saatchi across Europe. There are a number of ideas on the table for doing this, none of which has been finalized," said Publicis General Secretary Jean-Paul Morin. FCA! BMZ operates nine agencies and has an additional dozen affiliate partners across Europe. A potential roadblock, however, is that FCA! BMZ's anchor client is German package-goods company Henkel, while Saatchi has rival Procter & Gamble Co. as a major client.
