FCB buys Indian agency

BOMBAY -- Foote, Cone & Belding, the True North Communcations Inc subsidiary, has bought Ulka Advertising of Bombay, India, as part of its expansion program in the Asia-Pacific region.

FCB/Ulka has projected billings of $120m and a staff of 450. Its client base includes Vespa Scooters, L'Oreal, Whirlpool and Northwest Airlines.

True North agreed last week with Paris-based Publicis to a shareholding re-arrangement following the end of the two networks' joint set-up. Publicis said on February 20 that it would buy co-owned agencies in several Asian countries including India.
