LONDON -- Foote Cone & Belding is sending two senior executives from the U.S. to FCB International in London, to help beef up the region after the network's split with Publicis.

Geoff Thompson, FCB's Chicago-based worldwide creative director, will be based in London from Nov. 1, where in addition to his global responsibility he will be giving particular focus to the creative product in Europe.

John Penberthy, the managing director of FCB Direct New York, will be based in London from Nov. 1, where he will be head of direct marketing at FCB International. Penberthy will be responsible for building the FCB Direct brand across Europe, as well as Asia and Latin America, to create "a truly global offering to FCB clients."

London-based Harry Reid, president of FCB International, says of the appointments: "This makes a powerful statement about our declared intention to become one of the major global players in the communication business. With the arrival of Geoff and John, a significant number of our most senior managers will now be based in Europe, which shows our commitment to being successful here, and offering our clients the best possible people on their business."
