FCB'S THOMPSON REVAMPS CREATIVE UNIT

Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago, is revamping its creative department under new Exec VP-Executive Creative Director Geoff Thompson, resulting in a number of personnel changes.

Mr. Thompson has dismissed four creatives: Senior VP-Group Creative Director Bob Simon; Senior VP-Director of Broadcast Production Diane Flynn; and Creative Directors Gary Rom and Randy Harter.

Also, Mr. Thompson has imported Mary Ann Frerman from FCB's San Francisco office to fill the new post of creative department manager, the same title she held in the California office. Betsy Hall, a Chicago-based creative recruiter who helped Mr. Thompson staff the San Francisco office, replaces FCB Creative Recruiter Cathy Walejeski, who left the Chicago shop earlier this month.

Steve Keierleber, former senior VP-manager, creative services, becomes senior VP-director, creative technologies, a new post at the Chicago office. Ginni Selle, a former associate creative director at Young & Rubicam, joins as an art director. Ms. Selle once worked with Mr. Thompson at FCB in San Francisco.

The San Francisco office loses another executive as Thomas C. Cotton, 41, leaves after less than a year as senior VP-group management supervisor on the $130 million Taco Bell account. Mr. Cotton will join FCB/Leber Katz Partners, New York, to work on the agency's new AT&T account, estimated at $150 million.
