(July 24, 2001) -- Interpublic Group of Cos.' Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco, reshuffled its creative leadership this week, naming Tom O'Keefe, 38, to executive creative director.

Mr. O'Keefe replaces Rooney Carruthers, who will return to Europe after 15 months heading the San Francisco operation.

Mr. O'Keefe has been involved with the shop's creative on the Taco Bell account. He and partner Matt Reinhard were responsible for the award-winning Sweatermen campaign for Amazon.com.

The office, once one of the strongest creative shops on the West Coast, has been struggling with the loss not only of the Amazon.com account but, most important, also the $400 million AT&T Wireless account. After that account went into review, FCB's New York office handled the pitch, won earlier this month by WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather, New York. -- Alice Z. Cuneo
