Foote, Cone & Belding is trying to persuade Geoff Thompson, worldwide creative director currently based in London, to return to the agency's San Francisco office, sources close to the agency said. Mr. Thompson worked with Mike Koelker, the San Francisco office's longtime creative director on Levi Strauss & Co., and later served as creative director of the agency's Chicago office. Mr. Thompson headed FCB's pitch late last year to keep the estimated $90 million Levi Strauss jeans business. The agency ended up losing its 67-year hold on the account to TBWA/Chiat/Day
, Playa del Rey, Calif., and San Francisco. The FCB San Francisco office has been without a creative director since Paul Wolfe, formerly exec VP-executive creative director, returned last year to Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG, New York, as partner-group creative director.
