FCC approves CBS sale

The Federal Communications Commission Wednesday gave final approval to the Westinghouse buy of CBS Inc. The FCC approved a number of waivers allowing Westinghouse to own combinations of TV and radio stations that otherwise would violate FCC rules. The commissioners, in giving unanimous approval to the merger, cited Westinghouse's pledge to increase children's educational programming. Westinghouse said it expects to close the deal Friday.
