FCC to vote on alcohol probe the week of July 7

Published on .

FCC Chairman Reed Hundt finally is expected to get his vote on a probe into alcohol advertising on July 9. A spokesman for Commissioner James Quello said last week that while Mr. Quello could yet request a delay in the vote, he had tentatively decided to let the vote proceed. Mr. Quello and FCC Commissioner Rachelle Chong have both opposed a probe, giving Mr. Hundt insufficient votes among the four current commissioners to go ahead with an inquiry. Ms. Chong in June asked Mr. Hundt to delay a vote.
