FDA hears drug ad recommendations

American Association of Advertising Agencies, the American Advertising Federation and the Association of National Advertisers last week urged the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to change current rules for direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs. The groups suggested loosening the guidelines that require lengthy descriptions and disclosures in print ads, or shifting the FDA's control over pharmaceutical ads to the Federal Trade Commission.
