Firefly gets Coopers & Lybrand nod

Published on .

Firefly Network is the beneficiary of the first formal Coopers & Lybrand audit of an Internet company's internal privacy protection system. Coopers said Firefly's policy--which states that a user's e-mail address won't be shared with third parties without the user's request; that a user's profile information will be aggregated to create personalized content; and that a user can cancel their profile at any time--met Coopers' approval. The Firefly audit is a testing ground for Coopers, which plans to use its work with the company as a model for implementation of a universal "trust mark" for the Net.
