Firestone exec testifies to Senate

Published on .

Bridgestone/Firestone, Nashville, is taking full responsibility for failures leading to the recall of 6.5 million Firestone brand tires, company Exec VP John Lampe said today in testimony before the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. He said the marketer has narrowed the focus of investigation to a combination of design and process at its Decatur, Ill., plant for the 15-inch Wilderness AT model, but the matter still needs more investigation. Mr. Lampe said he supports the idea of government standards for tires that address the relationship between tire and vehicle.
