Fla. panel sets ad-tax vote

Published on .

A Florida panel set March 17 for a vote on whether to put an advertising and media services tax measure on the November ballot. The proposal under consideration by the Florida Constitution Revision Committee would cut the state sales tax rate to 5% from 6% and force the state Legislature to eliminate tax exemptions on all services, including ad agencies and media. Local governments would be allowed to levy an additional 0.5% or 1% tax on top of the state's figure.
