Fla. picks shop for anti-tobacco ads

Published on .

Florida officials named Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Coconut Grove, Fla., winner of the state's $70 million anti-tobacco advertising account Feb. 5, pending completion of contract negotiations. The agency won out over Beber Silverstein & Partners, Miami, and Paradigm Communications, Tampa, after presenting an aggressive and confrontational advertising and public relations campaign titled "Rage." Executives said they hope to have the first wave of the campaign break by April. The campaign is to be funded from the proceeds of the Florida state government's court settlement with the tobacco industry.
