Fleet Financial Group, Boston, narrowed its $100 million-plus direct response review to Devon Direct, Berwyn, Pa.; Bozell Direct, New York; Cohn & Wells, San Francisco; and Arnold Communications, Boston, and Barry Blau & Partners, Wilton, Conn., which are pitching together. The review is a result of Fleet's buyout of Advanta Corp.'s $11 billion credit card business. Advanta incumbent Devon made the cut; Fleet incumbent Clarion Marketing & Communications, Greenwich, Conn., was eliminated. Arnold has Fleet's general advertising.
