(May 25, 2001) -- Gemstar-TV Guide International has signed an 18-month ad deal with Ford Motor Co. to advertise on its Interactive Program Guide platform. The deal, made via WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson, Detroit, marks Ford's largest commitment yet in promotions in the digital TV arena, Gemstar-TV Guide said.

The platform seeks to help viewers navigate the emerging digital TV universe. Digital TV is available in 12 million households. Terms were not disclosed. -- David Goetzl
