Ford breaks Focus, Escape ads

Published on .

Ford Motor Co.'s Ford Division, Dearborn, Mich., on Nov. 11 breaks on MTV a new commercial for its Focus small car. The 30-second spot from J. Walter Thompson USA, Detroit, will continue to air for a month on national broadcast and cable networks. Ford said the commercial's Detroit techno music fits with the entry-level car's youthful target. Separately, Ford broke a :30 earlier the week of Nov. 6 on Fox as part of the launch for its all-new Escape sport-utility vehicle. JWT mixed animated background and driving footage showing the active side of successful Escape owners. Ford pumped up magazine spending for Escape to an estimated $8 million due to the actors strike, which Ford honored. The Escape spot was filmed in Vancouver.
