Ford Motor Co.'s Ford Division will be the sole sponsor of the Oct. 29 episode of CBS' "Murphy Brown" that will deal with Murphy Brown's recovery from breast cancer. Ford plans to run four 30-second product spots during the show, set to open with a 15-second "brought-to-you-by-Ford" billboard, followed by a minute-long message from Candice Bergen and Nancy Brinker, chair of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Ford is a longtime non-profit partner of the foundation, which plans to air two 30-second public service spots featuring musician Kenny G, by agency Temerlin McClain, Dallas. In February, Ford was the sole sponsor of "Schindler's List" on NBC. Ford did not reveal the cost of the sponsorship, but it could be as much as $1.2 million, according to observers.
