Ford net lower

Published on .

Ford Motor Co. reported 1995 net income of $4.1 billion, down 22% from 1994, and fourth-quarter earnings of $660 million, a 58.8% decline from the same period a year earlier. Chairman-CEO Alex Trotman blamed the cost of new product launches, including the Ford Taurus, Mercury Sable and Ford F-Series pickup trucks in the U.S. for the earnings decline, but said those products would eventually strengthen the balance sheet. Worldwide sales and revenue for 1995 were $137.1 billion, a 6.8% gain from the year before.
