Ford taps outsider

Automotive outsider George Murphy, 43, joins Ford Division of Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Mich., March 1 as general marketing manager. He comes to Ford from GE Lighting, Cleveland, where he was VP-worldwide product management. Mr. Murphy succeeds Darryl Hazel, who was promoted to executive director of Ford's North American Customer Service Division.
