R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. takes an unvarnished look at women who gave birth to the blues. The four-page spread runs in the August Esquire, fitting the issue's theme, "Women we love." Set to the theme, "Real blues. Real tobacco. Straight up," the ad salutes blues pioneers including Cora Fluker. The spread from Long Haymes Carr, Winston-Salem, N.C., is the second in a series soliciting donations for the Music Maker Relief Foundation. Copywriter: Mike Foley. Art director: Bill Puckett.
