Founding 'Men's Health' editor quits

Published on .

Mike Lafavore, editor in chief of Rodale's Men's Health, resigned to pursue other opportunities, the Emmaus, Pa.-based publishing house announced. Mr. Lafavore, 47, who has held that position since 1988, was credited with creating the monthly men's title and shepherding it to become one of the most successful launches in Rodale's history. After achieving impressive early circulation gains with Men's Health's editorial mix of fitness and lifestyle articles, other large-circulation men's titles such as GQ began to feature more health and fitness articles in their pages. Greg Gutfeld, 35, Men's Health editorial creative director, has been named editor as of January, and will work with Mr. Lafavore during a transition period.
