Fox, CBS plot pro hoops strategies

Published on .

Fox and CBS are jointly talking with agents representing National Basketball Association players about starting a new league or staging exhibition games. Either option would happen only if players can't resolve their labor dispute with NBA owners by the start of the 1998-99 season. Separately, the Continental Basketball Association denies it has received an acquistion offer from Imagine Entertainment and Walt Disney Co., estimated at $15 million to $20 million (AA, June 29). But the CBA wouldn't comment on whether it has had discussions with the two entertainment companies.
