FOX HOOKS SHARK; SCARY TO A FAULT

By Published on .

Contest #451: If there's one sport that can use an injection of hipness and youth, it's golf. That's why we were excited to hear that Fox will start broadcasting golf events next year. Just imagine: on-screen leader boards, all the time; putting to a Pearl Jam soundtrack; and Bart Simpson carrying clubs for Greg Norman. That'll make the kids put down their joysticks and pick up a nine iron. T.N.T.ers: come up with the next way Fox will "Foxify" golf.

And now for the results of Contest #447: we asked you for the next actor to portray a monster and you mortified us with: First Prize: Francis Ford Coppola presents: Marlon Brando as "The Blob." Brando, obviously, portrays the gelatinous alien who devours everything in his path including Larry King. His ever expanding girth is finally slowed when he consumes a Slurpee machine and dies from a brain freeze. Posie Thompson, account exec, Parenting, West Palm Beach, Fla.

Second Prize: A star-studded remake of TV's "The Munsters" with Cher as Lillian Munster, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Herman Munster, Macaulay Culkin as Eddie Munster, Kathy Ireland as Marilyn and Ed Koch as Grampa. Steve Kalinsky, free-lance copywriter, Pittsburgh.

Third Prize: In "Curse of the White Zombies," the cast of "Beverly Hills, 90210" comes to life (well, as much as they ever do) on the big screen portraying totally self-absorbed teen-agers who are dead but continue to fashionably walk the earth. Climactic ending shows them getting revenge against their maker, Dr. Fox (Aaron Spelling). Dennis Craighead, art director, South Carolina Department of Commerce, Columbia, S.C.

Honorable Intention: Julia Roberts as "The Bride of Frankenstein." No wonder Lyle's hair stands on end: electricity! Roger Green, info coordinator, National Small Business Development Center Research Network, Albany, N.Y.
