LONDON -- Fox Family Worldwide Inc. has promoted Ynon Kreiz to the newly created position of president, Fox Kids Europe. Mr. Kreiz has been managing director of Fox Kids Europe since its launch in January 1997.

Prior to joining Fox Kids Europe, he was senior VP, business development, at Saban Entertainment, where he played a part in structuring the strategic alliance between Fox Broadcasting Co. and Saban, which led to the creation of Fox Family Worldwide Inc. - a joint venture between News Corp. and Saban Entertainment.

"Ynon has been instrumental in establishing a strong Fox Kids presence on the European continent," says Haim Saban, chairman and CEO, Fox Family Worldwide. "His leadership and success during this relatively brief time period exemplifies our aggressive strategy to become the prominent children's television leader in Europe and throughout the world."

Mr. Kreiz is based at the company's London headquarters, from where he oversees all European Fox Kids channel operations in the U.K. and Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Poland and in Spain, where it launches December 4. Each channel has localized language, content, marketing and management.

Fox Kids Spain will be a joint venture with CITSA, a subsidiary of Sogecable SA, the pay-TV operator and 90% owner of the Canal Satelite digital DTH platform.

Discussions are currently underway to set up Fox Kids channels in several other major European markets, the company says.

Separately, Christopher Erbes has been appointed director of programming and channel development at Fox Kids Europe. Mr. Erbes, who will report to Mr. Kreiz, had been a consultant to the company since last July working on the launch of Fox Kids Spain. Previously, he was deputy managing director and head of programming at Nickelodeon Germany.
