Published on .

Rupert Murdoch's Fox Inc. and Tele-Communications Inc.'s Liberty Media unit are discussing a TV sports programming alliance, executives familiar with the talks have confirmed. The venture initially would focus on Fox Sports and Liberty Sports cable channel, but could grow into a more collaborative arrangement between Mr. Murdoch and TCI CEO John Malone, considered two of the most powerful executives in the media industry. According to the plan, Fox and Liberty would jointly bid for TV rights, then co-produce and distribute programs across a variety of broadcast and cable outlets, including Fox's fX and Liberty Sports.
