Fox News releases push product

News America Digital Publishing's Fox News formally launches FoxWire June 15, a news feed that works off the site and as an application downloaded to the desktop. Users will be able to click on scrolling headlines and retrieve stories from six categories: News, Business, Sports, Health, Sci-Tech and Etcetera. Advertising will be sold on the service as sponsorship packages. No ads had been sold at press time.

Scott Ehrlich, executive producer of News America Digital Publishing, rejected the idea that the push medium is on its way out.

"People just stopped talking about it," Mr. Ehrlich said. "There's a value to the passive delivery of information. You're basically able to monitor news as it happens."

Mr. Ehrlich said FoxWire is designed to create a "sticky," functional application on Fox News to draw people back repeatedly.
