Fox succeeds Johnston at Conde Nast

Published on .

Vanity Fair Publisher Mitchell B. Fox, 44, was named senior VP-corporate sales of Conde Nast Publications, New York. He succeeds Catherine Viscardi Johnston, who resigned from that position last week. Mr. Fox has been with Conde Nast for 10 years, starting as publisher of Details, and has been publisher of Vanity Fair for the last five. A company insider said Mr. Fox told his sales staff his successor most likely would come from outside the company. Mary Berner, 40, VP-publisher of Glamour, was named president-CEO of Fairchild Publications effective Nov. 5, when Conde Nast completes its acquisition of Fairchild from Walt Disney Co. She succeeds Fairchild President Michael Coady, who is leaving the company. A successor at Glamour was expected to be named soon.
