Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising and Taco Bell are teaming in a cross-promotional effort for Fox Kids Network's Saturday morning show "The Tick." The meal promotion will make available nearly 3 million miniature "Tick" toys, which will be distributed in meals at 4,800 Taco Bell locations. The program will be supported by an ad program that currently features 30 licensees, including Bantam Doubleday Dell, Fruit of the Loom, Hanes, Pressman Games and Vida Shoes International.
Maytag Corp., Newton, Iowa, says it will sell Hoover Europe for about $170 million to Italian white goods company Candy. Candy will acquire the rights to the Hoover trademark in Europe and parts of the Middle East and Northern Africa. In 1993 Hoover Europe lost an estimated $70 million when a costly free air travel offer to customers became grossly over-subscribed.
