Michael Francis, 38, has been named senior VP-marketing for Target Corp., replacing John Pellegrene, the exec VP-marketing who is retiring. Mr. Francis started with Marshall Field's as an executive trainee in 1985 and worked his way up to, most recently, senior VP- marketing and visual presentation for Target's department store division. Mr. Pellegrene, with the company for more than 30 years, spearheaded Target's positioning as an upscale discounter. Target was named Advertising Age's
Marketer of the Year for 2000.
