Web site owners have another way to get free ad space through a program to be unveiled Sept. 22 by SmartAge and Infoseek Corp.

San Francisco-based SmartAge runs SmartClicks, a free banner exchange program for small and midsize businesses. It licenses the program to publishers and portals through its XClicks Associate Plan.

On Sept. 22, Infoseek will offer Infoseek Clicks to its users as an inexpensive way to drive traffic to their sites. In addition, Smart-

Clicks members who cut and paste an Infoseek search bar on their sites will receive 500 free banner impressions, which can be used on any site in the SmartClicks network.

"Infoseek is going to give our members a reward for becoming partners for Infoseek search capabilities," said Anna Zornosa, president of SmartAge, who says the SmartClicks network has "tens of thousands" of sites.

Lycos, Tripod, Inc. Online, ZDNet and PC World Technology Network joined the SmartClicks associate program in June. SmartAge was formerly called NetWeb Corp. and founded earlier this year by Chairman-CEO William Lohse, previously president-CEO at Softbank Forums.
