French newspaper readership stabilizes

PARIS--Last year,49% of the Frenchpeople read a newspaper, the same percentge as in 1997, but less than in 1996, acording to the Ipsos study by EuroPQN. Themost read newspaper was L'Equipe, with2.5 million readers, followed by provincialnewspaper Ouest-France. Le Monde was third.
