The PepsiCo unit today named Lora DeVuono and Jaya Kumar to co-lead the Frito-Lay marketing team as group VP-brand marketing and advertising and group VP-insights, innovation and shopper marketing, respectively.

Replace former CMO
The executives replace Stephen Quinn, Frito-Lay's former chief marketing officer who left for Wal-Mart, where he is senior vice president of marketing.

According to a statement made by Frito-Lay North America Chairman-CEO Irene Rosenfeld, to whom Ms. DeVuono and Mr. Kumar will report directly, the moves are “critical initiatives to accelerate growth by better meeting the needs of our consumers and customers.”

Ms. DeVuono, who previously held the title of VP-advertising and communications at Frito-Lay, will now be accountable for communications including advertising, packaging, promotions and health and wellness initiatives for all of the company’s brands, including Lay’s, Doritos, Cheetos and Tostitos.

Mr. Kumar, formerly VP-consumer strategy, insights and growth, will head up innovation at Frito as well as consumer and customer research and retail initiatives.
