(April 30, 2001) -- FTC Chairman Robert Pitofsky, who had previously announced his intention to step down when Timothy Muris is confirmed as his successor, today said he will leave office in early June regardless. In a statement, Mr. Pitofsky said he will return to the faculty of Georgetown Univerity Law Center and will also be of counsel to the law firm Arnold & Porter. No hearing has yet been set on Mr. Muris' confimation but the sessions had been expected to take place in May. -- Ira Teinowitz
