FTC panel may also study offline data

During a Federal Trade Commission online privacy committee's first meeting, several members suggested extending an online privacy study to also examine consumers' rights to data collected offline. Some members said marketers' moves to commingle information collected online with off-line data amassed by direct marketers would make it difficult not to look at consumers' privacy rights to offline data also.
