Published on .

Furniture e-tailer Furniture.com on Nov. 6 shut down operations after struggling financially for several months. Although the company's Web site was still up and active on Monday, the retailer said it had discontinued operations and laid off 76 of its remaining 88 employees. Furniture.com in June abandoned its plans for an initial public offering and had slashed 41% of its work force. The company had been faulted in recent months for failing to deliver orders on time or at all. Bartle Bogle Hegarty, New York, had handled the company's $5 million account.
