New York Times Digital, the Internet unit of the New York Times Co., signed a deal to provide some of its articles to Yahoo!. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. New York Times Digital will provide Yahoo's News section with daily articles from the national, politics, business, international, technology and arts areas of NYTimes.com as well as local news from newyorktoday.com and Boston.com.
Internet ad management company L90 signed an exclusive representation agreement with Aimster, a file-swapping and chat program, that will allow L90 to offer peer-to-peer marketing solutions. Aimster registered 2.5 million users for its file-sharing and instant-messaging software in 14 weeks of its initial beta-testing; L90 plans to develop marketing-supported file-sharing and instant-messaging services for its clients. Aimster allows file-sharing and instant-messaging interoperability between all of the major file-sharing and instant-messaging services.
Internet auction site eBay and boats.com agreed to jointly create an online auction-style boating marketplace specializing in new and used boats and other marine products. A separate and fully integrated boats.com and eBay specialty site will launch Spring 2001.
Wink Communications, Alameda, Calif., named Tracey Whitely director of interactive advertising and research based in Chicago. Wink's interactive TV technology is available in 2.5 million satellite and cable households.
