Chiquita Banana set out to reinforce its brand image as the world's leading premium banana in a campaign from Doner
Cardwell Hawkins, London and Creative Director/Copywriter Paul Cardwell. In a series of ads running across Europe, Chiquita Banana, the company's spokescharacter, complete with Carmen Miranda-esque fruit-filled hat, sings the praises of the fruit, while dancing. The ads are unified with the tagline, "Chiquita, naturally," and the slogan, "When it says Chiquita, it's a very good day to buy bananas." The campaign broke on September 12 and will run for four to six weeks.
