Gambling ad ban overturned

Published on .

A federal ban on some forms of gambling casino advertising on U.S. TV and radio stations was overturned yesterday by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, San Francisco. The appellate court ruled that federal laws and FCC rules allowing some gambling ads, those by Indian casinos but not those from private casinos, for instance, but banning others are discriminatory and unconstitutional. Neither the Justice Department nor the FCC would comment today on the gambling decision.
