Gates a hit in Hungary

Published on .

On Bill Gates' Budapest leg of his European tour to launch Windows 95 last week, he left behind promises of Microsoft's participation in Hungary's information technology development. Gates' arrival on Sept. 1 included a visit with Hungarian Prime Minister Gyula Horn and the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Hungarian Telecommunications Co. Hungarian public relations firm PR1 Studio arranged the Budapest visit.

The highly publicized visit--the only stop in Eastern Europe--included the launch of Windows 95 at the ornate Hungarian state opera house and a presentation of computer equipment to Budapest's bilingual Hungarian/English high school.
