Brit Snit: In October, at a congress of the Conservative Party, former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher told her audience: "We are quite the best country in Europe. In my lifetime all the problems have come from mainland Europe, and all the solutions have come from the English-speaking nations." We were somehow reminded of a 1990 TBWA/London spot for Jiffy condoms. It showed Thatcher's parents and asked wistfully what might have been if only they'd used a Jiffy. Bring back that ad!

Missed the target: The National Shooting Sports Foundation recently launched an ad campaign to promote gun safety. The Wall Street Journal reported that the ads aimed to "keep guns safe from children." Really? We thought it was to keep children safe from guns.
